Angel Concheiro is graduate and PhD in Chemical Sciences (1976) and Pharmacy (1981) from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). Titular Professor of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology from 1983 to 1988 and Full Professor since 1988. Member of the I+DFarma group of the USC, recognized as a Competitive Reference Group by the Xunta de Galicia, in successive calls since 2007 (http://idfarmausc.es/). He occupies the 10th position in the h-index ranking in the area of Pharmacology and Pharmacy in Spain (https://grupodih.info/salud.html#PHARMACOLOGY&PHARMACY). 7 research and 1 transfer six-year terms. His research focuses on the design and evaluation of drug delivery systems for controlled delivery, targeting and stimuli-responsive release, using smart and imprinted polymeric networks and hydrogels, and bioinspired systems. He is also involved in surface modification of medical devices for drug loading and delivery (combination products) and prevention of biofilm formation, and on the preparation of 2D and 3D polymeric scaffolds for regenerative medicine. Co-author of +350 articles in indexed journals, 30 book chapters, several contributions in non-indexed journals, and more than 365 communications to congresses (60 as communication oral or invited presentation) and co-editor of Smart Materials for Drug Delivery of the Royal Society of Chemistry UK (2013) and Handbook of Molecularly Imprinted Polymers of Smithers Rapra Publisher UK (2013). Co-author of 17 patents registered by the USC and active participation in valorization projects (Innocash and MindTheGap). Referee of more than 30 indexed journals and evaluator of projects from Spanish, European, American and Asian agencies. Supervisor of 26 Doctoral Theses (17 of them in programs with a Quality Mention, 11 have received the extraordinary doctorate award and 14 European or International Mention) and +70 supervised research works, Degree´s and Master's thesis, and supervisor of another 3 Thesis on going. Responsible for the pre- and post-doctoral stay of foreign researchers. President of the Veterinary Medicines Evaluation Committee of the AEMPS and expert of the European Medicines Agency (EMA). President of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Galicia (RAFG, since 2022).
