Abstract

Although Phraseodidactics is defined as teaching of phraseology, both terms must be differentiated to trace the history of this field, from its emergence until its consolidation as one of the applied branches of Phraseology. Indeed, the origin of Phraseodidactics is located in language teaching, where teachers of foreign languages show the first expressions of interest on the most vivid part of the language they teach. Thanks to the theoretical advances in Phraseology, phraseologists take over from those teachers and a great number of them are focused exclusively on this issue and turn it into a consolidated field of utmost importance among the various applications of Phraseology. Today, Phraseodidactics is defined not only as the teaching of the phraseology of a language, but also the teaching of a whole language through its phraseology.
