Cristina Varela Portela is a PhD in Education Sciences from the University of Santiago de Compostela, where she has also previously obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy and a Diploma in Advanced Studies. She has been part of the FPU program (Training of University Teachers) of the Ministry of Education between the years 2010 - 2014. She currently works as a Contracted Doctor at the University of Santiago de Compostela in the area of Didactics and School Organization within the Department of Pedagogy and Didactics . Her priority research lines are: intercultural education and pedagogy, education and pedagogy in penitentiary contexts, service-learning and family education. He has made a research stay at the University of Seville in 2012 and at the University of Cambridge in 2013. She belongs to the research group Esculca of the University of Santiago de Compostela, with whom she has obtained the “Maria Barbeito” Prize for pedagogical research in Galicia in its 2012 edition. In the framework of this group she has participated in different projects and research work. During the last years he has made different contributions to national and international congresses as well as publications in prestigious journals.
