Doctor by the Universidad de Oviedo with the thesis Nuevos procesos de amonolisis y aminolisis catalizados por la lipasa de cándida antárctica. Reacciones de doble resolución enzimática 1998. Supervised by Dr. Vicente Miguel Gotor Santamaría.
Application of NMR (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) to address structural questions at the interface between chemistry and biology, comprising the analysis of small molecules (e.g. with residual dipolar couplings, RDC), the structural analysis of small peptides, and the study of ligand/receptor interactions with large biomolecules. A more recent research topic is the NMR-based structure determination of prions (amyloid proteins). Positions: - 2002-2004: Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Max Planck Institute (MPI-BPC Göttingen). - 2005-2010: Ramón y Cajal Fellowship (USC). - Since 2010: Profesor Titular de Universidad (USC).
