Dr. Emilio Martínez-Núñez is Full Professor of Physical Chemistry at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and an internationally recognized expert in theoretical and computational chemistry. His research focuses on the development and application of computational methods to investigate chemical reaction dynamics, reaction kinetics, photochemistry, automatic reaction mechanism discovery, and astrochemistry. He is the developer of AutoMeKin, an open-source software package for the automated exploration of chemical reaction mechanisms, and his current research combines electronic structure calculations, molecular dynamics, kinetic modelling and machine-learning approaches to study complex chemical systems. Prof. Martínez-Núñez has an extensive publication record in leading international journals and has participated in numerous competitive research projects, including as Principal Investigator. He has delivered invited lectures at international conferences and institutions. He has also served as an expert reviewer for prestigious European funding programmes, including the European Research Council (ERC) Consolidator Grant (CoG), reflecting the international recognition of his scientific expertise. He has extensive experience supervising early-career researchers, having supervised five completed PhD theses, postdoctoral researchers, and numerous MSc and undergraduate research projects. His former PhD students have successfully continued their careers in academia through prestigious postdoctoral and tenure-track positions. Prof. Martínez-Núñez has established long-standing collaborations with leading groups in Europe and the United States, including the Universities of Leeds, Lille and Pisa, and Texas Tech University, complemented by several international research stays. These collaborations have fostered scientific exchange, interdisciplinary research, and the development of international research networks. His scientific expertise, supervision experience, and international collaborations have contributed significantly to advances in computational chemistry and to the training of the next generation of researchers.
