Doctor by the Universidade de Vigo with the thesis Hábitos y motivaciones de práctica de actividad físico-deportiva del alumnado universitario 2017. Supervised by Dr. Constantino Arce Fernández, Dr. Roberto J. Barcala Furelos.
Graduated in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences from the University of A Coruña in 2002, his scientific and research career began in 2013 with the beginning of the Doctoral Thesis project presented in April 2017 under the title “Habits and motivations for practicing physical-sports activity of university students” and which would culminate in obtaining a Doctorate from the University of Vigo. From then on, his line of research developed around Physical Education and Physical Activity in the school context, generating publications in specialized magazines, book chapters and communications at national and international conferences, as well as dissemination actions about the work. developed and the most notable findings. In March 2018, he joined the Faculty of Educational Sciences (University of Santiago de Compostela), as an associate professor in the area of Didactics of Body Expression (Department of Applied Didactics). In September 2021, his connection with the university changes from part-time to full-time through the role of assistant professor. Since 2018, she has taught in the Degree in Early Childhood Education Teacher, Degree in Primary Education Teacher and Double Degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education Teacher. He is currently part of the Esculca Research Group – Knowledge and Educational Action that is based in the Faculty of Educational Sciences, registered in the Catalog of Researchers and Research Groups of the University of Santiago de Compostela with Code GI-1790. This is a Competitive Reference Group. Since May 2022, he is the Delegate of the Rector of the University of Santiago de Compostela for Sports. Prior to joining the University as a full-time professor, he was Director-Manager of the Public Foundation of Galician Sports (Xunta de Galicia) between March 2006 and March 2017. Between May 2017 and March 2018, he was part of the cabinet of the President of the Higher Sports Council (Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports); Finally, between December 2018 and September 2021, he developed his main professional activity in the office of the General Secretary for Sports of the Xunta de Galicia. During these 15 years, it has been able to actively participate in the development of multiple training activities and the generation of teaching resources and tools for the implementation of programs to promote healthy physical activity in the school context, such as the Healthy Galicia Plan, the DAFIS platform (Healthy Physical Activity Data) or the Active Life and Sports Projects (Proxecta Plan – Department of Culture, Education and University). All these transfer activities have been developed together with different research groups and the three Galician universities.
