Zusammenfassung

This thesis studies the trajectory of Caetano Veloso in the Brazilian social space of the second half of the 20th century, taking into account his central position in the musical field. The starting hypothesis was that the composer is also a reference to understand both culture and certain issues related to the Brazilian social space; more than a musician, he is one of the outstanding agents of the cultural field in Brazil, a political and social activist, who has held different positions throughout his trajectory. To demonstrate this, the social space, the different cultural fields, Veloso's trajectory and the critical reception of his production are analyzed, as well as the dynamics in which he is inserted. From the review of all his production (compositions, interviews, audiovisual material, etc.), the different positions of Veloso are evaluated, as well as the critical readings and the impact of his trajectory at a national and international level. Finally, it is stated that Veloso's consecration in the academic and cultural field is the product of his intellectual work, his high level of professionalism and continuous reflection on the social space, the identity of Brazil and the various cultural fields.
