Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to offer an analysis of the Spanish press regarding the two studied border contexts: The United States-Mexico and Spain-Morocco, specifically, Ceuta and Melilla. Through the study of the content used by the observed communication media, two major issues are approached: the identification of discursive strategies of stigmatization of the migrant at the border and the different narratives between both case studies. The results show that the Spanish media offer a more negative image of the migrant in the Spanish-Moroccan border than in the Mexican-American context.
