Resumo

Because of the importance of reading in our society, because it allows us to access all types of knowledge and information, the main objective of this study is to determine if there are differences in academic performance according to reading speed. The sample is composed of 146 participants from 1st and 2nd year of Primary Education. Data were analysed using an analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results show that there are differences in the academic performance of Primary Education students according to their levels of reading speed.
