Resumo

The main goal of this paper is to present the problems that arise when carrying out a paleographic transcription in order to elaborate a database from it, and to obtain valid results for palaeographic, ecdotic, or linguistic studies. In this case, we work with the Galician-Portuguese lyrical poetry, a corpus that already counts with a database conceived fundamentally for literary studies: MedDB and two other complementary electronic resources, CMGP and Universo Cantigas. However, while CMGP adds information to the texts, the last one offers a complete glossary, but does not have a paleographic transcription that respects all the characters and abbreviations in the manuscripts. In this article, a practical example of a cantiga by Johan Airas of Santiago will let us study some of the representations of the prepositions per and por. The existing transcription and editing proposals will be revised, and, through the graphs in the manuscripts, a reconstruction of the characteristics of the lost copy from which the songs of B and V were copied will be offered. This work will ultimately allow us to obtain a valid -though conventional- foundation, in order to reliably unify the various graphs in recognizable characters.
