Resumo

Seasonaly, from summer 1985 to spring 1986, samples of mussels were collected from two sites at the NW spanish coast: Ría of Arosa and Ría of Ares-Betanzos. Histological slides of gill, mantle, palp and digestive gland from the different specimens, have shown the presence of the Protozoa Marteilia maurini phylum Ascetospora, family Stellatosporea, Steinhausia mytilovum phylum Microspora, family Chytriodipsidae, Ancistrum mytili phylum Ciliophora, suborder Thigmotrichina and Sphenophyra sp. phylum Ciliophora, order Rhynchodida (Levine and col., 1980). Tje fact of having detected foreign parasites which have not caused massive mortalities until now, makes go deeply into the pathology of this mollusc, to stablish with clear histological and physiological view-points the development of these mitilids, in order to hold the high level of production in this spanish area.
