Resumo

Our territory is articulated according to a hierarchical system of transport infrastructures. Their layout is drawn by both physical and human factors. Territorial representation is carried out by mapping. Cartographic representation usually draws a reality in which the distances between points correspond to the physical distance in between. However, the term of distance can also be related to the actual distance as a function of the travel time. This article proposes an own methodology for generating travel‐time maps, which result a distorted representation of the traditional cartography because of lengths between nodes correspond to the required travel times. This mapping representation offers a high interest from a social and technical perspective by displaying the real degree of cohesion and accessibility of a particular territory. In this article we will show some results obtained for some transport modes and scenarios within Switzerland.
