Abstract

This article presents Service-Learning as an academically useful methodology in university classrooms. The reasons behind this approach are of a training nature, but also of a civic-social and institutional nature. The aim is none other than that of attempting to explain the proliferation of SL initiatives, as they are developed in the Spanish universities and beyond, allowing us to glimpse new horizons in the way of understanding learning in Higher Education. When taken care of properly, such practices generate channels of communicative action between universities, society and the labor market; this is beneficial for both students and graduates, but also for the institution itself and its corporate image.
