Abstract

The aim of this research was to analyze the effect of a program of activities in the natural environment on motivation, basic psychological needs and enjoyment in physical education classes in primary education. The sample consisted of 16 schoolchildren, aged between 9 and 13 years (M = 10.12, SD = 1.08), of whom 9 were boys and 7 were girls from a school of the province of Lugo (Galicia). The statistical analysis results show that after the intervention program statistically significant differences were found in: perceived competence (p = .002); intrinsic motivation (p = .007); Extrinsic motivation (p = .003) and enjoyment (p = .001). In view of the results, this should be taken into account by the PE teachers in raising activities in natural environment and tasks in their classes so that differences were decreasing.
