Resumo

This research’s aim is to investigate about first aid knowledge, especially CPR, that Physical Education teachers in Elementary School have in Lugo province, their training in first aid and use of such content in classrooms. Sample (N=36) was composed of teachers, both men and women, who were active and taught Physical Education in third cycle of Elementary School in some school in Lugo province. To do this, a research was designed divided into two distinct parts. First part relates to introductory and bibliographical aspects about the topic at hand and based on an extensive literature searched in books, magazines, articles and other secondary sources published. Second part, through which we obtained the data, an ad hoc questionnaire with 18 questions about first aid formation and use was applied. For the presentation and analysis of data, the statistical program SPSS version 20.0 was used. Resulting data, but are better than expected, revealed a lack of training in Physical Education teachers in relation to first aid and their presence in the classroom programming in Elementary School.
