Abstract

The rapid economic, technological and social developments in recent years in our country and in the industrialized world face new and complex situations in the transition of adolescents to adulthood and their working life, what is today in the spotlight. These changes are determined by constant technological innovation, new work organization and reconfiguration of the labor market, forcing the school to constantly rethink their guiding function. Often, young people suffer from an adequate educational and vocational guidance to channel their interests and skills to working life. On the other hand, ignorance of existing values in the workplace, the segregation of the labor market and the difficulty of access to a first job make a greater school challenge. However, schools should make a special effort in this complex task, taking an active role in drafting the personal life of each student to be facing the transition to adulthood and active life in terms of knowledge, motivation and full responsibility. In short, to students undertake their own vocational project as positive and regardless of personal circumstances. In this paper we reflect on the state of the art of these issues, in an effort to move towards best practices for social inclusion.
