Resumo

We assume that education is the fundamental resource for the success of integration in the world. To face the challenge that living together in the current context of globalization, interculturality and migratory flows supposes, we propose an education for democratic citizenship based on human rights, having as an aim the education of tolerant people who show respect for cultural diversity, and performed through an integral, personal and patrimonial education. This opens a new perspective on education in values that must be directed toward the acceptance and reception of the others, and that must be taught, known, estimated, chosen and realized. This is why a narrow collaboration between school, family, and society is indispensable. In conclusion, we propose an education aimed at forming glocalized people, capable of thinking globally and acting locally, exercising social responsibility and tolerance.
