Resumo

The new information and communication technologies now offer some new features that have partially changed the labor market. In today’s society, we now find companies and government agencies that offer their workers the opportunity to carry out their professional activities away from the premises or headquarters, using the home or call center-enabled computers and Internet access as alternatives. This leads to what is known as telecommuting and job decentralization. This new situation has a positive effect on the reduction of the ebb and flow of certain workers residing on the outskirts of large urban areas, resulting in a more rational use of public and private transport and energy consumption. The purpose of this report is to discover the impact of teleworking on transport and the communication system in the urban area of Madrid, using a quantitative methodology based on statistical use of public and official sources in the community under study.
