Resumo

This PhD dissertation about the graphic work of Oscar Niemeyer runs between two opposite poles: the teaching and myth. If teaching is concerned with creating a rationalizing discourse that explains consciously and orderly way their proposals are made, the myth creating a story to the real and unreal is proposed. The process of decantation both poles is studied over time. The analysis of different teaching methods used by architect will originate in the positivist training that permeates academic teaching. This thought based on reason will allow you to reorganize, through drawing, the influences of Lucio Costa and Le Corbusier, creating a discourse that will be consolidated from the work of Pampulha. The evolution of this discourse of reason to the symbolism, all analyzed primarily from the perspective of graphics, can explain many clues that explain the meaning of his drawings as a means of expression that transcends the office of the architect.
