Victoria Vázquez Rozas is a tenured lecturer of Spanish at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She acts as coordinator of the Spanish Grammar (GdE) research group. Since 2011 she has been the leader of the research group at the USC that is helping to build the CORPES XXI reference corpus of twenty-first century Spanish within the framework of the collaborative agreement between the university and the Spanish Royal Academy. As a member of the GdE research group she was actively involved in the design and construction of the Syntactic Database of Spanish (BDS) and the various competitive projects related with this line of research from 1989 to 2006. Since 2007 she has been the coordinator of the USCs PRESEGAL working group within the sphere of the Sociolinguistic Study of Spanish in Spain and America Project (PRESEEA). She has also been lead researcher on five competitive projects focusing on the contrastive analysis of verbal syntax and the design, exploitation and analysis of spoken corpora (cf. the ESLORA corpus at http://eslora.usc.es/). She has published on syntactic and discursive aspects of Spanish from a usage-based perspective and, more recently, on the development and analysis of spoken corpora, fields in which she has supervised four doctoral theses and a substantial number of MA and BA dissertations. She has been a visiting lecturer at the universities of Copenhagen (Denmark), UC Santa Barbara (USA), Leuven (Belgium), Iceland, UNAM (Mexico) and PUCV (Valparaiso, Chile) and a guest lecturer at the universities of Syddansk and Aarhus (Denmark), the Menéndez Pelayo International University (Spain), the Autonomous University of Querétaro (Mexico) and the CUP in Braga (Portugal). She is an assessor at the Spanish National Assessment and Prospective Research Agency (ANEP) and the Catalan Agency for the Management of University and Research Grants (AGAUR), a member of the scientific committees of journals such as Linguistic Studies (CLUNL, Lisbon), Sintagma (University of Lleida), Anuario de Letras. Lingüística y Filología (UNAM) and a member of the advisory committee of Verba (USC). She has worked as an external assessor in selection processes for the University of Iceland, the University of California, Santa Barbara, the Nova University of Lisbon or the Ohio Research Council, amongst others, and is a regular reviewer for specialist journals and publishers.
