Doctor by the Universidade de Vigo with the thesis Detección precoz del deterioro cognitivo mediante técnicas de gamificación, aprendizaje máquina y herramientas tic 2019. Supervised by Dr. Manuel J. Fernández Iglesias, Dr. Luis E. Anido Rifón.

Dra. Sonia Valladares, permanent lecturer in the Department of Electronics and Computing at the University of Santiago, leads an innovative line of research in the field of Neurosciences and Artificial Intelligence, focused on the development of technological tools for the early detection of cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease in the adult population. Her research activity, initiated in 2008, is based on the application of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and serious games as non-intrusive mechanisms for cognitive assessment and stimulation. She has participated as Principal Investigator in European and regional projects2, such as DEEPINVENTHEI and the digital memory test Ludus (Lucus), promoting technology transfer to vulnerable groups and strengthening the link between research and social impact. With more than 30 indexed publications and outstanding work as a scientific reviewer, Valladares promotes innovative digital solutions (conversational agents, cognitive assessment tools, etc.) to promote active ageing and the prevention of neurodegenerative diseases.
