Dematerialization and the economic crisis – are they parallel paths? Assessments based on the EU-15 case study

Resumen

Neste traballo investígase a evolución do consumo de recursos materiais nos países da Unión Europea-15 (UE-15) nos últimos 20 anos, co obxectivo de analizar se neles existe desmaterialización e que sectores a lideran. Como indicador de consumo material utilízase a pegada material, xa que indica todos os recursos que require unha economía. Utilizando os datos da pegada material e o PIB proponse un modelo que permite estudar a existencia de desmaterialización na UE-15. Os principais resultados mostran que a desmaterialización só ocorre de forma conxuntural tras a crise de 2008, recuperándose posteriormente o acoplamento entre o PIB e a pegada material.
