Abstract

This paper aims to offer a Leon´s jurisdictional compartmentalization full seek in order to know how many were the jurisdictions, how many their inhabitants and who was its owner, as well as their justice audiences and officers. To get this we have create a database with Ensenada´s Cadaster and Floridablanca´s Census as main sources. This have provided us a dimensional evaluation of vassals under royal or seigniorial power, which will let as compare Leon province with the rest of Castile Crown territory. Ordinary jurisdiction played a main function in Old Regime local administration and as modern state gears. As result of medieval legacy and modern state own nature castillian jurisdictional map was very fragmented asymmetricly so its populations as territory. Royal gifts, alienations and sales were modern jurisdictional map causes. Although some provinces jurisdictional scheme is well known anotherones are still unexplored.
