Abstract

Background. The research on the phenomenon of sexting is emerging internationallyand novel, however in Spain there is little evidence both quantitatively andqualitatively. This study focuses assess knowledge, behaviors and motivations ofadolescents from Ourense on the phenomenon of sexting. Method. Through focusgroups involving 36 teenagers. Results. The analysis of their speeches highlighted thelack of term sexting, for pointing that is a practice that people know their age, but notthe end. Although initially very few admitted to sexting behaviors carry on sending videos or erotic/sexual texts, subsequently acknowledged send pictures anderotic/sexual texts saying it was "logical". A third of the teenagers recounteddisseminate content such as photos into the mirror shirtless, in swimwear or dresseswith erotic poses, however in some cases not considered sexting. Referring to thereasons alluded to practice sexting causes such as boredom, or boast excite the targetperson among others. Conclusions: Therefore it is important to inform and educateadolescents, educating in the prevention of risks that the practice of sexting isassociated.
