Abstract
This article analyzes the reduction of ecclesiastical powers through the royalistprocess that started in the Late Middle Ages and lasted until the second half of the18th century. To this end, the royalist process will be addressed from three fronts:legal ˗through the legal compilations of the Late Middle Ages˗, jurisdictional ˗thestruggle between the Crown and the Holy See for control of the last appeals of theecclesiastical ordinaries ˗ and fiscal ˗from the measures implemented by theConcordat of 1753 to submit the patrimony of the Church to the payment of the debtof the Royal Treasury˗.
