Abstract

If instead of following the tritest approaches in Architecture and Landscape History, we look at the workof the “wild avant-gardes”, we might surprise ourselves. We are going to discover an acidic, destructive andlittle frequented iconography - that of the dépaysages- along this path. Furthermore, we will find ourselvesface to face with a deeply rebellious philosophy related to dépaysage. In fact, a different “Counter-historyof Landscape” took shape in the Paris of the two central quarters of the 20th Century under the heatand stink of the thought of Bataille and the poetics of the “wild avant-gardes”. A “Counter-history”, inwhich all the conventional scales of values were turned upside down.
