Resumo
The application of deformable models in tracking and segmentation tasks has increased in popularity in the latest years. These processes can be slow when the user has to define the initial shape. Moreover, the goodness of this initial shape has a great influence in the final result. However, the automatic generation of the initial model is barely addressed in the literature. We propose an automatic initialization method that makes a preliminary estimation of structural properties of objects in 3D images. This approach takes advantage of the robustness brought by multi-part parametric models, a priori shape information and matching techniques.
