Factores de riesgo y protección asociados al consumo de alcohol y otras drogas en adolescentes de secundaria

Abstract

Substance use in adolescence is one of the greatest social and health concerns, given the importance of this stage of life. There is a large number of investigations that have determined what may be the risk factors that can increase consumption, compared to other protective factors, avoid problematic consumption. The objective of this research work is to evaluate what type of factors currently prevail in our adolescents and which have the greatest association with substance use. To this end, a mixed research is established in which students and members of the management and guidance teams of educational centers in the city of A Coruña are surveyed. The results reveal a structure of risk and protective factors. Sometimes it does not coincide with what is expressed by the directors and counselors of these centers. It is concluded that this aspect must be assessed according to the needs presented by adolescents and prevention must therefore be carried out in a personalized way.
