Abstract
According to Ramón Menéndez Pidal’s dogma, one can find iberian folk ballads in tho seareas where Iberian-romance languages are spoken. In this study, we seek to set those ballads gathered from African and Asian native people, from geographical areas which were, throughout history, Portuguese or Spanish domains. We also refer to the vigour of the iberian folk balladry among the Latin America communities as well as in the single region inthe whole Iberian Peninsula whose native language is not a romance language (the Basque Country). Our purpose is to confirm whether or not the above mentioned dogma is correct.
