Abstract

Pero da Ponte and Afonso Eanes do Coton are two renowned authors of cantigas contained in the galician-portuguese songbooks: the Cancioneiro da Ajuda, the Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional (Cód. 10991) and the Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Vaticana (Vat. Lat. 4803). The close relationship between these troubadours is confirmed by some references in satirical texts and, mainly, by the dialogued song Pero da Pont’, e[n] un vosso cantar (B969 / V556). This work offers a new critical edition of this tenção with notes and literary study. The dialogue develops several topics of interest for the studies about troubadours: social class and professional activity of the interlocutors.
