Resumo
The absence of a state law on unmarried couple’s contrasts with a current favorable to their regulation, although free of excessively formalistic rules, which would lead to a contradictio in terminis, by converting a merely factual union into a union in law; normativity that favors the private autonomy of the cohabitants more uxorio. In the study presented, a review is made of the new Spanish and European rules regarding extramarital unions, with a coda to the status quo of unmarried couples in the civil law of Galicia. The paper concludes with a final reflection and a lege ferenda proposal.
