Impacto emocional y financiero de la crisis de la Covid-19 en los odontólogos

Abstract

The main purpose of this research has been to examine the economic, social, and emotional implications among dentists in Galicia as a result of the COVID-19 crisis. A study was conducted with 347 professionals, evaluating aspects related to their personal and social information, professional activity, and emotional state. 83% of the participants expressed that the demands, expectations, and emotional state of patients had changed, and 50% of the professionals responded feeling more sensitive to patient criticism about their treatments, especially dentists with less decision-making power (p=0.005) and clinic management. Anxiety was reported by 56% of the professionals, with women (p=0.005) and professionals who are separated, divorced, or single (p=0.003) being the most affected. 87.90% of the dentist professionals reported a decrease in income between 10,000 euros and 60,000 euros. 56% of the respondents indicated the need for a radical change in their lives, with separated or divorced dentists being the group that considered this circumstance most frequently (p=0.003). Lastly, the emotional and financial consequences had a significant impact on the lives of these professionals.
