Abstract

We have read with interest the recent case report entitled: “Asymptomatic intraventricular arachnoid cyst: a case report”, by Franco LJ et al and based on our experience in the management of arachnoid cysts we would like to make some comments. Firstly, we agree with the authors that intraventricular localization of arachnoid cysts (AC) is very rare, especially when we analyze cases of adult patients, and this low incidence is due to the fact that under normal conditions there is no arachnoid membrane inside the ventricular system. . In these cases it is thought that its origin is from the ependymal layer of the choroidal tissue that covers the vascular mesenchyme, which projects into the lateral ventricle through the choroidal fissure.
