Resumo
Paradores de Turismo of Spain is a unique example in the world hospitality industry because of the combination of cultural, heritage and environmental elements with its accommodation offer and management model. The innovative spirit that shaped the first hotel projects carried out in the twenties, even taking into account their logical evolution, has managed to stay alive with the passage of time and it allowed the creation of exclusive experiences for the traveler. This paper aim is to show a brief selection of the contents of a talk carried out on the occasion of the First International Symposium of Paradores, focused on the valuation of the cultural legacy of the chain. A legacy that has been considerably increased since the first parador was opened in 1928. That’s the reason why its management, nowadays, is a real challenge due to the fragile combination of hotel exploitation with the preservation of the historic, artistic and natural heritage
