Resumo
Modern science shows a growing trend towards especialization in dif-ferent and complex branches that, while affecting our daily lives in a direct and palpable mode, nevertheless they can 't find a suitable way to establish fluid communication with citizens. Different social groups demand true information throwing light on the significance and consequences of facts and sientific developments. This task of mediation between science and citizen-ship falls, to a great extent, on the media, that must abandon the illusion of reflecting reality like a mirror in order to side with a true and well-founded interpretation of facts. Scientific journalism has as its aim the socialization of the developments of science and at the same time being an antidote against the evil effects of its over-specialization. Scientific journalism will not only be a bridge between science and the citizen, but mostly a social instrument for the control of science and ofthe use gobernments make of it
