Abstract

The aim of this doctoral thesis is the study and editing of the poetry of three 15th-century authors who have not yet received the attention they deserve by critics, although their scarce production unveils certain singularities: Rodrigo de Torres, Martín el Tañedor and a poet identified as the brother of the latter in the Cancionero de Palacio (SA7). This anthology is the common intersection for the three of them, being codex unicus for the works of the brothers, and main source of Rodrigo’ poems. The research also goes deep into the life and poetry of the three based on narrowing down the time period during which they write their texts, locating them in certain courts, and explaining the most representative thematic and formal aspects of their compositions. Likewise, it covers the different testimonies of the pieces and their text transmission, more complex in the case of Rodrigo as his production has been preserved in six manuscripts. After setting the editing criteria, the work offers their texts, which have been annotated for the first time since they were only accessible in anthologies or the editions of the cancioneros which have preserved them so far.
