Abstract

This study analyses the presence of Brittany, identity and writing place, in Guillevic's life and poetic work. The introduction develops the theoretical framework : the history and the representations of the place, their evolution and their constitutive elements. The first part deals with the historical and literary context : the panorama of contemprary literatures in Brittany and the analysis of the controversial concept of Breton literature written in French. The second part develops our thesis about the existence of an inner Brittany, a fundamental mythical presence in Guillevic's work. Through the analysis of the relations established between the poet and the word, and by studying his geopoetic conception and the Breton elements of his poems (topography, civilization, vegetation, fauna and primordial elements), our conclusion affirms bretonnity as a not only obvious, but also essential component of Guillevic's poetic universe
