Zusammenfassung

In the early 1990s, the collapse of the USSR led to its disintegration into several independent republics. A short time later, Russia led the signing of various integration agreements between the former Soviet republics, resulting in an incipient reintegration process. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan, one of the post- Soviet Central Asian republics, tried to integrate into the global economy followed several paths through a large number of global, bilateral, and regional agreements. This thesis aims to analyze the disintegration and reintegration process of Kazakhstan since its independence, shedding light on the prioritized integration strategy, and its causes and consequences. Specifically, the thesis will examine the trade impact of EurAsEC-EAEU, the main regional integration agreement in the Eurasian area.
