Resumo

We present a synthesis on the evolution of the settlement in the territory of Carthago Nova, between the ii century B.C. and ii century A.D. During the late republican period one can detect a marked duality between the lands of the interior, structured from large indigenous oppidum, and the coast, with an occupation conditioned by the very presence of the city itself and the main mining districts. From the era change, with the cessation or slowing down of the exploitation of mineral resources and the gradual decline of the oppidum, the foundations of a new model of organization and exploitation of the territory were laid down, which can be seen breaking through toward the end of the second century.
