Abstract

As being a portrait of the political power, House of Cards realizes also a reconstruction of the function of Public Relations through its characters, behaviour and performance culture. The present work analyses these elements from a critical perspective to know the way Public Relations are despicted in its three first seasons. The methodology is the content analysis thanks to a tool built ad hoc, in the light of previous research. The analysis concludes that the profession is represented by solitary, ambitious and competitive men who only live for working. PR is framed by fundamentally negative values. Paradoxically, Public Relations that aim at offering a positive image of organizations and public figures, have to work for the recognition in positive of their own activity.
