Abstract

This study sought to determine the importance of women’s participation in the game of skittles in Boiro, which allowed us to understand the phenomenon in that part of Galicia, Spain – the only town in the province of A Coruña where the game stil exists. The qualitative, descriptive and interpretative study using personal interview as a tool to obtain information found that women do not play skittles in Boiro, and they adopted a passive role that more conditioned by historical barriers against women and the role that society had reserved for them than by their physical skills
