Abstract

This work aims to emphasize the potential of the joint and interrelated study of Galician toponymy with early medieval documentation in order to extract data of interest to both historians and philologists, through the specific analysis of an area of the French Way as it passes through the current municipality of Samos. For this purpose, reference will be made to the extensive documentation from the archives of Samos Monastery Tomb, which provides the oldest written historical and toponymic references on seven localities through which this route runs, and whose evolution was closely linked to the expansion of the heritage of the powerful monastery of San Xulián de Samos
