Resumo

In the present paper, we discuss some issues related to an old problem: the nature of philosophical controversies and the possibility of progress in philosophy. We discuss some philsophical positions in face of philosophical disputes and some metaphilosophical problems regarding the way in which they are treated by different philosophical schools. We try to avoid incommensurability between different philosophical paradigmas by resorting to common principles of argumentation based in recent argumentation theories.
