Abstract

Consequently, the present doctoral thesis aims to: Study the effect of economic inequality on consumption processes. Specifically on processes such as status and conspicuous consumption, materialism, and attitudes towards indebtedness. It also investigated the possible psychological mechanisms that could explain its effects, such as status seeking or status anxiety.
