Abstract

In order to meet the reproductive management milking sheep farms in Leon province conducted a surveyto 104 farms, which were analyzed the effect of the number of lambintime per year (1-5) on theproductive results and the extent of use of reproductive techniques. The most intensive reproductivefarms are those with larger flock size and younger owners. Milk production per ewe and year statisticallysignificantly increases when the reproductive intensity did. Differences in ewe lambs sold werenot statistically significant between farms with different number of lambing time/year. Hormonalmethods and pregnancy diagnosis increase its use to make reproductive intensity. Very limited use ofartificial insemination on the farm was found. A high% of farms are mating ewes in autumn and minorityin the spring which affects both prices/unit sales and the marketability and distribution of milkand lambs
