Abstract

Parenting Coordination (PC) is a specialised intervention for parents who have ahigh level of conflict and intense litigation after divorce in parenting issues. Thisprocess focuses on children. It aims to reduce the effects of exposure to conflict and toestablish a coparenting relationship. In Spain, it is an emerging role, which is mainlysituated in Catalonia, and was followed by others autonomous communities. In thisstudy, we focused to know the family circumstances when a parenting coordinator hasbeen judicially designated. Judicial judgements from the CENDOJ database involvingthe figure of the parenting coordinator were analysed. The results obtained shed light onthe situation of children involving in interparental conflict, as well as, aspects related tolitigation, like complaints, pleadings and conflict issues. The results are discussed inrelation to previous literature and guidelines for managing parental coordination.
