Abstract

Oral candidosis is very important in dentistry, because of its frequency, clinical variety, risk of dissemination and also by predisposing the malignant transformation of sorne oral lesions. It has a multifactorial etiology, its appearance is influenced by the fungí virulence and systemic and local host factors. In the sistemic factors predominate all kind of diseases and treatments that depress the immunitary system. The local factors can be due to an alteration of mucosal barrier or in the quality or quantity of the salival flow. Obviously, to control all these predisposing factors is a basic measure to prevent and treat successfully this disease. The description of the main clinical and therapeutical aspects of this pathology is aim of this work.
