Zusammenfassung

This thesis proposes an indoor positioning system using coded visible light and its identification using portable devices. To achieve this goal, an emitter module built on a commercial domestic LED luminaire has been designed for data transmission. The resulting beacon uses a microcontroller to modulate the signal, as well as other electronic components, mounted on a specially designed PCB. Said microcontroller provides an interface available via Wi-Fi through which the behaviour of the beacon, once deployed, can be modified. The chosen encoding system, Manchester, provides identical relative brightness for all beacons sharing the same space, allowing to take advantage of the existing lighting infrastructure without appreciable disturbances to the human eye. The receiver is a portable device programmed to perform decoding and positioning tasks. For this purpose, its camera is used, acquiring samples in which the beacon is present and providing everything necessary to decode the data transmitted by the beacon. In each shot, two samples are captured, which, combined, allow the performance of the data communication system to be optimized, increasing its range. Of these two samples, one can be used to reconstruct the pose in which the receiver was at the time of data acquisition, thus estimating its position.
