Resumo

More than 800 shells and specimens of 38 species belonging to several conoidean families have been found in the samples collected during several campaigns on the continentalshelf and slope off Galicia (NW Spain). The most frequent species in the samples wereSpirotropis confusa, Sorgenfreispira brachystoma, Micropleurotoma travailleuri andOenopota graphica. Some of the species have only been found in samples from the continental shelf above 260 m depth (Comarmondia gracilis, Bela menkhorsti, Bela nuperrima,Mangelia costata, M. costulata, M. tenuicosta, Sorgenfreispira brachystoma and Cyrilliaaequalis). Eight species have been found below 1500 m depth (Aforia sp., Spirotropisconfusa, Oenopota cf. tenuicostata, Gymnobela subaraneosa, Neopleurotomoides callembryon, Pleurotomella cf. benedicti, and two species described as new, belonging to thegenera Spirotropis and Neopleurotomoides). Furthermore, fossil shells, fragments or shellsin poor condition of another eight species have been also found in the samples.
