Abstract

The objective of this work is to show that Popperian falsification is an extreme type of reasoning control. The ‘skeleton of ordinary reasoning’ is shown to approach that purpose, starting from the consideration that a statement q can be a consequence of another p ‘If p, then q’, abbreviated, p [menor que] q, denoting [menor que] the inference relation, a relation that. Since the conditional statement is not understood in the same way in all the contexts covered by the language, it will be assumed primitive and, therefore, must be approached correspondingly in each case. This standpoint will allow examining falsifiability from the formal concepts of refutation and speculation, allowing a new look at the demarcation criterion and cast doubt on the identification between ‘conjecture’ and ‘hypothesis’ by showing various kinds of conjecture.
